Couple of posts ago, I mentioned I found a pack of pretty Japanese paper from Daiso. This got me curious and I started looking out for the other interesting Japanese paper I could find in stores. Some of these will be from Daiso overseas, I’ll point it out when I get to it. It may appear in our local Daiso as well so I’ll keep a look out and will update if I do.
The Philippine branches of Daiso sell these packs of Japanese paper at 88php each. USA Daiso sells them at 1.50usd each.
Fabric Paper
This fabric paper is also 5.9 x 5.9in. It comes in a pack of 16 and in only 4 designs. I recall seeing this in both the US and Manila. This is a really interesting type of paper. It kind of resembles cloth but thicker and rougher than your normal bond paper. I have been thinking of using this to make those bookmarks that look like Japanese dolls in kimono.
At the moment, I can’t think of any other projects for this. The back side is a washed out version of the front.
Modern Print washi Chiyogami
This one is comes in a pack of 20 5.9 x 5.9in. One pack has 5 pieces of each design. There were only 2 different sets of designs when I found them. They are much thinner paper, almost like wax paper. The two packs seem to follow a theme. One pack has koi, Mt. Fuji, cherry blossoms, and horses. The other pack has repeating shapes.
At the moment, I can’t think of what project to use them in. I just really like the prints but with how thin they are, I am not sure what craft project I can used them in at the moment.
Washi Design Paper
Found this cute one at the Daiso in Madison Galleries. Just a bunch of panda prints on them. 5 designs and 6 pieces each and 5.9 x 5.9in big. Couldn’t pass this one up so I got it when I saw it.
Traditional Japanese Print Chiyogami (Daiso USA)
This one is a huge pack of 100 sheets. This pack only has 4 designs although to be honest, the designs are quite similar to each other. This one is 5.9 x 5.9in as well and still the same price as the rest. The design in only on one side.
Thinking of using thing for origami and doll bookmarks in the future. Not a big fan of the green one but I’ll see how it will look. This one is definitely a quantity over quality type of buy. Probably the biggest pack I found in the Daiso abroad.
Yuzen Chiyogami (Daiso usa)
This one is definitely my favorite. It has 14 designs and only ONE PIECE of each design. Like the rest, these are 5.9 x 5.9in. Another thing that makes this one extra special is the added metallic inks on the designs. It feels slightly thinner to me but not as thin as the washi one.

Really lovely but I definitely need to be careful where I use them. The designs with flying birds is definitely my favorite in this set.
Double Sided Colored Japanese Paper (Daiso USA)
This is the only Japanese paper I got with no prints but it does have a color on both sides. Really find this nice for origami. Size is 5.9 x 5.9in. It has 12 color combinations and each has 5 sheets. Most of the paper in Daiso are only designed on one side. I have not seen this one in local stores yet. Been to Market! Market!, Robinsons Galleria, and South Park stores but haven’t seen them.

I did not realize how much paper I have been collecting from Daiso Japan. Their stock isn’t very consistent in Manila so I buy it when I see it. You can check out their international website here. They also have Philippine Facebook page if you want to see their local promotions.
