Back in January I needed to replace my old monitor since I was having trouble with digital painting. I was thinking of going the budget route but the reviews online convinced me otherwise. I decided to choose a Viewsonic VA2409-h because of the price and Viewsonic is a brand I have never had problems with. In fact all the monitors I bought from them lasted over 10 years.
ViewSonic VA2409-H out of the box
The monitor came with 1m hdmi cable, power cable, base, and neck. Assembly was easy since it was just 3 pieces.
The screen is 23.5 inches with a bezel around than half a cm except for the bottom with 0.25cm. The bottom of the frame is 2cm while the rest was 0.25cm. It looks very simple in matte black with a black blushed aluminum textured plastic base. It also doesn’t have a separate bulky power brick so it was easier to cable manage. Although this monitor can be VESA mounted, I will be using the base.
It is a 1440p monitor with a 23.5in IPS screen. It also has 75Hz refresh rate. The images are bright and there are no dead pixels. The screen angle can only be adjusted up or down. There are buttons on the bottom of the screen to adjust settings.
The most problematic button was actually the power button. Sometimes I would hear an audible click but would still need to press harder to turn the monitor on or off. The other thing I noticed is how the edges round off maybe 2-3 pixels off of the screen. The only reason it bothers me is because of Discord’s unread in channel notice. It is possibly a viewing angle thing since if I face the edge of the screen, I can see it.
This is what my setup looks like now. I like how simple and clean the monitor looks.
Ordering from Data Blitz
I ordered the ViewSonic VA2409-H from Data Blitz since it was on sale. Data Blitz was not kidding, I got the monitor the next day. Very fast and securely packaged in bubble wrap ng shrink wrap. Unfortunately when I ordered it, I couldn’t find a place to tell the vendor who to write up my official receipt to. I sent an email to local Viewsonic customer support but it took them a week to reply. I had already gotten the product but then. I had also asked where on their online store I could have mentioned this but they stopped replying.
Extra Experience with Viewsonic
Viewsonic also had a raffle for those who bought monitors or projectors back then. The ViewSonic VA2409-H was considered as 1 raffle entry. You entered it by filling out a form with your receipt and what item you bought. The prize was several of their products as well as other peripherals and gift cards. I also checked to make sure that Data Blitz was an authorized dealer. The information said that I would be notified once my entry received. I entered and didn’t get anything after a week. I tried again but still nothing.
