Getting a Constellation Lamp from Lazada!

I love looking up at the stars. The thing is, living in the city means that you don’t see much of them. I remember seeing the skies of Palawan and thinking how I have never seen so many stars in the sky. A couple of times I have also waited and watched for the yearly geminid meteor showers. This is why I ended up buying this constellation lamp.

Constellation Lamp

It definitely isn’t close to the real thing but it is still interesting to look at. It also makes for a nice night lamp because it isn’t very bright. Since I want it brighter, I plan to look for a replacement bulb. The set comes with certain measurements to know where the stars are at.

Applauding Lazada for the fast delivery! Expected on the 20-21st of March, this came to me on the 2nd. The provider is called Freebang and I bought the set on sale for 610php (including shipping). The box came in wrapped in 2 layers of plastic and a foam sheet.

Inside, the pieces are in styrofoam and wrapped in plastic. The bulbs on mine were not in their holes but the plastic kept them from falling out when I took the styrofoam out of the box.

The set comes with a manual but the English gets more and more confusing when you get to the later steps. The item’s page in Lazada has some assembly tips too . I suggest you write them down or look them up while assembling this. I’d also advice you to have some small screwdrivers at hand and maybe some scissors. I used the scissors to remove some plastic sticking out of some pieces.

Constellation Lamp screwsHad this problem with the screws. The screws on the left is all the screws in the box. There was more than indicated in the manual but they were all of the same kind. I just used whichever. Some holes for them were a little small though, so it was hard to screw on completely.

Also putting the starmap with its base ON the pedestal with the lightbulb was hard! If you pushed on the film, you might damage the film on it’s plastic base. I’d suggest putting the base on first before adding the starchart film.

I really enjoyed putting this together. I plan look around for anymore interesting semi-DIY stuff I can find online. The whole assembly process took me 2hrs or so but it was mostly me trying to put on the top to the lightbulb haha. I ended up removing the starchart film and just putting the base on by itself.

Also makes for some nice photo ideas! You’ll need a slow shutter to really see the patterns because the bulb is a little weak. The photos I took was at 3200ISO 5.6fstop 1/60 shutter speed.

The constellation lamp is still for sale at LAZADA over here.

UPDATE: I won’t be able to make this one brighter because it will take more technical skill for me to do that.

  1. That’s a very nice small Constellation you got there, I’ve always wanted to look up at the stars, Sadly where I am from you can only see one or three tiny lights by mistake! Only things that are visible in the sky are Clouds, the Moon and the Sun!

I look forward to seeing more of those crafting and assemblies you do. Can’t wait to see what happens when you get stronger bulb!

    1. May just mean that you are way too close to a city with a lot of lights 🙂
I’ve been to an island FAR for any cities and the stars are awesome!

  2. Nice! Mine just arrived from Lazada today. The manual that came with it is in Japanese so we’ll need to rely on your story and common sense as we put the pieces together. Hopefully we get the same effect once it’s set up.
